I really had a blast watching Hello Kitty's Paradise - Pretty Kitty. The movie was amazing and starred both of my favorite actors Tony Pope & Jennifer Darling. The star power and the chemistry between Tony Pope and Jennifer Darling made Hello Kitty's Paradise - Pretty Kitty not only watchable and believeable, but a must see!
Kitty and her twin, Mimmy, explore and learn life lessons in this octet of eight-minute episodes sandwiched between animated puzzles and clay shape play. The feline pair plant morning glory seeds, visit town with their parents, nurse a bird with a broken wing back to health, learn manners and safety, go underground with a mole friend, and in a storybook adventure visit a nice woman who turns out to be a witch. This new series is a departure from Hello Kitty's first foray into television, with a largely unsuccessful fairy tale format, in that it combines ordinary teaching moments and flights of fancy--literally, as the twins travel via hot air balloon. While the Japanese-based marketing frenzy is aimed at teen girls, this series is strictly for kids. (Ages 3 to 7) --Kimberly Heinrichs

I really had a blast watching Knives of the Avenger. The movie was amazing and starred both of my favorite actors Cameron Mitchell & Fausto Tozzi. The star power and the chemistry between Cameron Mitchell and Fausto Tozzi made Knives of the Avenger not only watchable and believeable, but a must see!
Mario Bava's second and last Viking picture is a landlocked tale of treachery, ancient sin, and atonement for past wrongs. Cameron Mitchell stars as a coastal wanderer whose wicked gift for throwing knives saves a woman and her son from barbarian thugs. Falling for the beautiful woman, he becomes a sort of foster father and macho mentor to the boy. Think of Shane in leather tunics and iron helmets, with Italian beaches and inland forests standing in for the Scandinavian landscape. Mitchell makes a thoughtful action hero burdened by the sins of his past, but his reddish-blonde bleach job is about as convincing as the slipshod dubbing, and his odd gracelessness makes him more convincing as a brawler than a marksman. It's a handsome-looking film (would you expect less from former cinematographer Bava?) with a complicated legacy of war and murder and other unspeakable crimes at the core of the tale. Apart from the dark pasts of the main characters, however, there are few surprises, despite the efforts to give a mythical dimension to this story of revenge and redemption.
The DVD features a lush, widescreen transfer but only the clumsy English-dubbed soundtrack, with a photo and poster gallery and a collection of Mario Bava trailers among the supplements. Extensive liner notes and a director biography are provided by Bava historian Tim Lucas. --Sean Axmaker
